About
Mushmellow is a Ukrainian alternative rock band formed in October 2004 in the city of Zaporozhye (Ukraine). The group is currently rehearsing and based in Moscow.
Mushmellow guitarist and vocalist Alexey Zhuravel lived in Seattle for a long time, where he began to compose songs and play in local alternative bands. After meeting with a professional arranger and guitarist Mikhail Novikov, the Mushmellow group was founded.
In February 2008, the group signed a five-year contract with Ukrainian producer Yuriy Falyosa. After that, the band released Hollow Memories and one of the band's biggest hits, Hellen. The musicians also starred in the video for the cover version of Britney Spears' song - Toxic.
All the songs from the first Mushmellow album are somehow connected with the theme of love, and this is not surprising, because the musicians themselves define their style as “love alternative rock”.
From December 12 to December 15, 2010, a video for the single "Come back home (Honey)" was filmed, and on May 10, 2012, a video for the song St. Satan.
Soon after the band's return to the alternative stage, Mushmellow acquired a more "grunge" sound, which can be heard in several demo tracks of the second studio album, which the band began recording in the spring.
At the beginning of 2017, Alexey Zhuravel moved to Moscow, where he assembled a new line-up and the group began recording a new release. An EP tentatively titled Rise is currently being prepared.
