Maria Pia Piscitelli was born in Italy. Her repertoire includes the title role in Norma (Bellini), Medea (Cherubini) Maria Stuarda, Lucrezia Borgia (Donizetti), Aida, Amelia in Un ballo in maschera, Elisabetta in Don Carlo, Leonora in Il trovatore and in La forza del destino (Verdi), Maddalena in Andrea Chenier (Gordano) and many others. She performs in La Scala in Milan, the Vienna Staatsoper and the opera houses of Bologna, Buenos Aires, Rome, Barcelona, Venice, Graz, Berlin, Palermo, Naples, Amsterdam, Paris and others.
In the 2013 and 2014 season, Maria Pia Piscitelli made her triumphant debut at the Wiener Staatsoper, in four concert performances in the title role in Bellini’s “Norma” and at Radio France – Montpellier as Caterina Cornarno in Donizetti’s opera “Caterina Cornaro”. In the same season she also made her debut as Lady Macbeth in Verdi’s “Macbeth” (Slovak National Theatre and Wroclaw) and as Nedda in Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. She also performed the role of the Countess in Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro” (NCPA in Beijing and Deutsche Oper Berlin), Donna Elvira in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” (Hamburg Staatsoper and Teatro La Fenice di Venezia) and Alice in “Falstaff” (Deutsche Oper Berlin).
