Marco Vratogna was born in La Spezia and studied at the Puccini Conservatory in his hometown as well as with Leone Magiera. He made his opera debut as Stankar in Verdi’s STIFFELIO in Trieste in 2000.

From then on, the Italian baritone received invitations from the world´s most renowned opera houses, for example from the Teatro La Fenice in Ve­nice, the Oper Frankfurt, Florence, Turin, Amsterdam, Leipzig, Bologna, Parma, the Stuttgart Staatsoper, the Monnaie in Brussels, the Berliner Staatsoper, the Teatro Real in Madrid, Genoa, the Arena di Verona, the Liceu in Barcelona, the Semperoper in Dresden, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the ROH Covent Garden, Torre del Lago, La Scala in Milan, the Hamburgische Staatsoper, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Valencia.

Marco Vratogna is highly appreciated as one of the top artists especially dedicated to ‘Verismo’ and is a dramatic baritone repertory of his generation. His performances as Jago in Verdi’s OTELLOare heralded as definitive portrayals of the role and is frequently lauded as a leading Puccini and Verismo singer for his generation.

His repertoire includes roles such as Luna (IL TROVATORE), Alfio (CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA), Tonio (I PAGLIACCI), the title roles in Verdi’s NABUCCO, RIGOLETTO and MACBETH, Scarpia (TOSCA), Jago (OTELLO), René Ankarström/Riccardo (UN BALLO IN MASCHERA), Ezio (ATTILA), Jack Rance (LA FANCIULLA DEL WEST), Amonasro (AIDA) ,Francesco (I MASNADIERI), Frank (EDGAR) ,Carlo Gérard (ANDREA CHENIER) and Don Carlos (LA FORZA DEL DESTINO).
