Marco Berti (Como, January 13, 1962) is an Italian tenor.
He graduated in singing in 1989 at the "G. Verdi" conservatory in Milan under the guidance of Giovanna Canetti.
Marco Berti made his debut in 1990 in Cosenza, playing the role of Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, as the winner of the Giacomantonio International Competition. In 1991 he is Don Fernan Guevara in the first performance in the Staatstheater of Frankfurt am Main by Christopher Columbus, with Renato Bruson and Michele Pertusi and Tito in La Clemenza di Tito at the Prague National Theater.
At the Teatro alla Scala in Milan he debuted in 1992 as Edmondo in the premiere of Manon Lescaut directed by Lorin Maazel with Gino Quilico followed by Lord Arturo Bucklaw in the premiere of Lucia di Lammermoor with Bruson, Mariella Devia, Vincenzo La Scola and Ferruccio Furlanetto taken up by RAI and substitutes for indisposition La Scola in the Petite messe solennelle directed by Sir Neville Marriner and in 1993 Orombello in Beatrice di Tenda (drama) directed by Marcello Viotti with Antonio Salvadori and Lucia Aliberti.
At the Wiener Staatsoper he debuted in 1992 as Ein Sänger in Der Rosenkavalier and in 1993 he was Steuerman in Der Fliegende Holländer conducted by Myung-whun Chung with Bernd Weikl at the Teatro Verdi (Florence).
Marco Berti was directed by Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Antonio Pappano, Daniel Oren, James Conlon, James Levine. He has worked with famous directors including Franco Zeffirelli, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Pier’Alli and Liliana Cavani. He also carries out intense concert activity, dedicating part of his free time to teaching activities through Masterclasses with various institutions
