About

Marcello Sirotti received his cello diplomas with A. Pocaterra from the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, conducting with V. Parisi and composition with G. Colombo Taccani. Since then, after a period of specialization at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, his activity has been carried out in an eclectic manner, with attention paid both to the executive aspects of music, as director and cellist, and to the musicological field.

Still a student, by the will of C. Abbado, he was called to be part of the La Scala Orchestra and in the Milanese theater he was trained under the guidance of the most prestigious sticks, such as those of L. Bernstein, CM Giulini, R. Chailly, R. Muti.
Alternating the activity of director with that of cellist, for years Marcello Sirotti was assistant director of the American J. Mauceri, with whom he collaborated, as well as in Italy, also in England, France and the United States. Always with Mauceri, at the Teatro Regio in Turin, he oversaw the preparation of several titles, including Britten's Turandot, Carmen and A Midsummer's Nightdream.
As part of a vast and often unusual repertoire, Marcello Sirotti has led, in Italy and abroad, the most diverse teams in terms of weight and tradition, from the Cameristi della Scala who already from the name reveal the propensity to a "chamber" context, up to to the Ukrainian Philharmonic, suited to the great sounds of Brahms and Prokofiev. Marcello Sirotti also collaborated with the British record company Decca at the recording of opera arias by soprano A. Georghiu with the orchestra of the Regio di Torino.
