In his early years, Mao Junhui went to the University of Iowa to study the Master of Drama Arts and followed the famous acting instructor Sanford Meissner in New York, and participated in the performance and guidance of many professional theater groups and films and televisions in the United States. During his ten years in the United States, he gained valuable opportunities to collaborate with many of the top artists and creators in the theatre, including the musical Overture of the Pacific Overture on Broadway in 1976.
