About
Ludovico Einaudi – Italian Pianist and Composer Ludovico Einaudi (born November 23, 1955) is an Italian pianist and composer known for his minimalist and emotive music. His work blends classical, contemporary, and ambient influences, making him one of the most celebrated modern composers.
Einaudi was born in Turin, Italy, into a distinguished family—his grandfather, Luigi Einaudi, was the second President of Italy. He studied at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan under the guidance of composer Luciano Berio, a pioneer in experimental music.Initially composing for orchestras and film scores, Einaudi later developed his signature style—melodic, atmospheric piano pieces often accompanied by strings and electronic elements. His music is characterized by simplicity, repetition, and emotional depth.
Some of his most famous compositions include:
- Le Onde (1996) – His breakthrough album, inspired by literature and nature.
- Divenire (2006) – Featuring the popular piece Nuvole Bianche.
- Una Mattina (2004) – Used in the film The Intouchables (2011).
- Elements (2015) – A mix of piano, strings, and electronic sounds.
- Seven Days Walking (2019) – A multi-part album inspired by winter landscapes.
