About

Lisa Batiashvili, the Georgian-born German violinist, is praised by audiences and fellow musicians for her virtuosity and “profound sensitivity” (Financial Times). An award winning artist, she has developed long-standing relationships with some of the world’s leading orchestras, conductors and soloists.

From 2019 – 2021, Batiashvili is the Artistic Director of Audi Sommerkonzerte, Ingolstadt. This season’s concerto highlights include with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and the symphony orchestras of Boston, Chicago and the BBC. Lisa will also tour in the US with the Philadelphia Orchestra and around Europe with Camerata Salzburg and Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Batiashvili is the 2018/19 Artist-in-Residence with the Münchner Konzertdirektion Hörtnagel, in which she curates programmes with the Ebène Quartet, Camerata Salzburg conducted by François Leleux, and as part of a piano trio European tour with Gautier Capuçon and Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Recording exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon, Lisa’s latest album – ‘Visions of Prokofiev’ (Chamber Orchestra of Europe/ Yannick Nezet-Seguin) – won an Opus Klassik Award and was shortlisted for the 2018 Gramophone Awards. Her previous recording of the Tchaikovsky and Sibelius violin concertos with Daniel Barenboim and Staatskapelle Berlin received international critical acclaim. A student of Ana Chumachenco and Mark Lubotsky, Lisa gained international recognition at age 16 as the youngest-ever competitor in the Sibelius Competition. She was named Musical America’s Instrumentalist of the Year in 2015, was nominated as Gramophone’s Artist of the Year in 2017, and in 2018 was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the Sibelius Academy (University of Arts, Helsinki). Lisa lives in Munich and plays a Joseph Guarneri “del Gesu” from 1739, generously loaned by a private collector.
