Ling-Hsuan Huang was born in 1991 in Taoyuan, Taiwan. She learned piano and viola early and received her first composition lessons at the age of fifteen. Since 2009, she studied composition in Taipei with Shan-Hua Chien, then with Walter Zimmermann and Anton Safronov at the Berlin University of the Arts (2013-16). She completed her studies with Wolfgang Rihm at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe with honors.
Her catalog includes solo works, chamber music, ensemble pieces, orchestral pieces and children's theater. The composer also works with traditional Chinese music and Taiwanese folk music. At the German Music Competition 2018 Ling-Hsuan Huang was awarded the composition prize of the DMW; was awarded her composition "The Way We Talk" for recorder duo. In 2015 she won the 2nd prize in the composition competition of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra and an award at the Carl von Ossietzky Composition Prize. She worked with the International Ensemble Modern Academy, the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe, the Studio Orchestra of the UdK Berlin and the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.
