About

Young Dutch tenor Linard Vrielink completed his studies at the Universität der Künste (UdK) in Berlin, as a student of Prof Elisabeth Werres, this summer. He early on studied piano with Alejandro Serena Llinares in Maastricht, was a member of Schola Cantorum, the choir of St. John's Cathedral of ‘s-Hertogenbosch in The Netherlands and took lessons in composition and conducting. He initially studied singing with Harrie van der Plas and continued at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, as a student of Harry van Berne. In the summer of 2013 Linard Vrielink took part at the IOA (International Opera Academy) in Schwerte, Germany. He has also attended masterclasses with Norbert Schmittberg, Yamina Maamar, Harry Peeters, Matthew Polenzani, Alexander Oliver and Ira Siff.

During his final year at the UdK, he appeared as Federico/Stiffelio at the Konzerthaus Berlin, made his debut at Staatsoper Berlin as Scaramuccio/Ariadne auf Naxos, sang the European premiere of Mohammed Fairouz' oratorio Zabur with the Bochumer Symphoniker, joined Ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon for a Mozart programme on tour in France and performed Schubert's Stabat Mater and Beethoven's C-major Mass with Thomas Hengelbrock and the Balthasar-Neumann Ensembles in Spain.

Other past performances include Bastien/Bastien und Bastienne in Amsterdam and in Helsinki, the role of Frank in Bazaar Cassandra by Enrico Palomar for Neuköllner Oper Berlin, Pedrillo/Die Entführung aus dem Serail at ‘’Internationale Stiftung zur Forderung von Kultur und Zivilization’’ München, Germany, and Oronte/Alcina at Kammeroper Rheinsberg and Il Conte Libenskof/Il viaggio a Reims at the UdK.

In the season 2017/18 Linard Vrielink joins the Opernstudio of Staatsoper Berlin for roles such as Seemann/Hirte in a new production of Tristan und Isolde, conducted by Daniel Barenboim, Scaramuccio, 3. Jude/Salome, 4. Knappe/Parsifal, 1. Priester/Die Zauberflöte, 1.Soldat and Konsul in a new production of L’incoronazione di Poppea and Bartholomäus Brummhold in the childrens’ opera Der unglaubliche Spotz. Furthermore, he will debut with the Dutch Radio Philharmonic in Saint Saens’ Christmas Oratorio, conducted by Ed Spanjaard.
