Leo Fall is one of the most successful composers of the 20th century Vienna operetta.
Born in the Czech city of Olomouc in the family of a Berlin musician. He studied music at the Vienna Conservatory, then went to Berlin with his father.
1895: accepted as a conductor at the Hamburg Musical Theater. Begins own compositions.
1904: after unsuccessful productions of two operas, he completely devotes himself to the composition of operettas.
1905: Leo Fall's first operetta is staged in Vienna. From this moment he is a resident of Vienna, his wanderings end.
1907: The international success of the operetta Princess of Dollars. Repeatedly placed in Russia, where it was also a success.
1912: the operetta “My Sweet Augustine” in London withstands over 3,000 performances (called Princess Caprice).
1920: Leo Fall returns to the opera, but the third attempt (The Golden Bird) is not much more successful than the previous ones.
1922: Leo Fall's best operetta, Madame Pompadour. Impressive success in many countries; in Germany and Austria is still being put.
