Lani Tran-Duc was born in 1982 in Munich. After studying architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts and at the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura del Vallès (ETSAV) in Barcelona, she worked from 2010 to 2012 as an equipping assistant at the Hamburg Thalia Theater. Already during her assistantship, she designed sets for the Thalia Theater and the Kampnagel Theater Factory.
Since then she has worked freelance as a stage and costume designer, for theater and opera productions as well as in the field of dance and performance, u. a. at the Wiener Festwochen, at the Staatstheater Darmstadt and at the Konzert Theater Bern. Last season they performed productions at the Erlangen Theater, the Graz Opera House and the Deutsche Theater Göttingen. For Jon Fosse's visit to the Hamburger Lichthof Theater, Lani Tranc-Duc was awarded the Rolf Mares Prize in the "Best Stage Design" category in 2014.
