Kurt Schreibmayer (born October 30, 1953 in Klagenfurt) is an Austrian Kammersänger (tenor).

Schreibmayer attended elementary school in Gurnitz and graduated from the secondary school, the waiter apprenticeship in the Hotel Moser Verdino in Klagenfurt.

His musical education began at the age of eight years with the accordion lessons. At 15, he became a member of the church choir and men's singing club Gurnitz and later founded his own youth choir.

In 1975 he began his studies at the University of Music in Graz and two years later received his first annual contract at the Opera House Graz. In 1978 he was accepted at the Volksoper Vienna and in 1992 at the Vienna State Opera.

Guest engagements took him to the first opera houses, including Berlin, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Essen, Hamburg, Munich, Palermo, Sydney and Zurich. Other engagements he received at the Bregenz Festival, the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, the Seefestspiele Mörbisch and the Salzburg Festival. In addition, he was engaged from 1986 to 1992 at the Bayreuth Festival. Schreibmayer completed concert tours through America, China, Japan and Russia, had numerous television appearances and gave several charity concerts with his friends from the Vienna Volksoper in his hometown Ebenthal.

He has worked regularly with renowned conductors such as Christoph von Dohnányi, James Levine, Kent Nagano, Donald Runnicles, Peter Schneider, Giuseppe Sinopoli or Horst Stein and participated in productions of Adolf Dresen, Götz Friedrich, Christine Mielitz, Hans Neuenfels and Adolf Rott ,

Kurt Schreibmayer is married to the Austrian actress, operetta singer and musical actress Helga Papouschek and lives with her in Vienna.
