With its tradition and spread of its artistic scope, it is a unique artistic institution of its kind not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Europe.
Kühn's children's choir was founded in 1932 by Jan Kühn, a prominent singer, director and choirmaster. He originally created it for the needs of Czechoslovak Radio in Prague. Due to its exceptional qualities, the choir was incorporated into the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in 1952, of which it was a part for forty years.
The extraordinary artistic reputation is evidenced by numerous awards and official honors to the ensemble, including the 1998 European Grand Prix, an absolute victory at the highly prestigious choral competition in Tolosa, Spain. The choir is regularly invited to major music festivals and concert tours. In addition to individual concerts, he systematically collaborates with leading orchestras and opera stages. Cooperation with the National Theater in Prague, where children take on opera roles, has been going on since 1936.
The choir's greatest achievements include performing at Milan's La Scala Theater, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Tchaikovsky Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Bregenzer Festspiele, etc. Kühn's children's choir has won a number of international choral competitions (Paris, Princeton, Wuppertal, Tolosa) , Arezzo), of which the triple victory at the prestigious competition in Tolosa, Spain in 1998, 2008 and 2013, is unique in the world. During its existence, the choir has made over 50 recordings of Czech and world music. He also has countless radio and television films to his credit.
Kühn's children's choir has its own exceptional sound, which at first sight impresses with the naturalness of children's voices, purity and sophistication. From the very beginning of the choir, these properties have been an inspiration for a number of excellent Czech composers to create directly for Kühn's children's choir. At present, the church is attended by over nine hundred members, which makes it the largest church in the Czech Republic. The membership base of the choir is really wide, children have been visiting it since the age of 3. The best concert department of the choir is then approaching the age and sound of a youth choir.
