Born in Munich, mezzo-soprano Katharina Kammerloher first completed a complete oboe study before she studied singing. In 1993 she was engaged by Daniel Barenboim to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Here she was heard in numerous productions, including as Rosina, Cherubino, and Octavian, under Philippe Jordan, Meg Page in Falstaff under Claudio Abbado, as Mélisande under the direction of Michael Gielen as well as the composer in Ariadne auf Naxos under Fabio Luisi. She sang under Daniel Barenboim, among others. in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg"," Der Ring des Nibelungen "and"Così fan tutte". Together with Jürgen Flimm, she worked on other roles in her repertoire such as Marcellina in "Le nozze di Figaro" (under Gustavo Dudamel) and the wax soldiers and La Malaspina in the Sciarrino operas "Macbeth" and "Luci mie traditrici". Guest performances and concerts led her to the Salzburg Festival, the Munich Opera Festival, the BBC Proms, North America and Asia. She has worked with conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Simone Young, Kent Nagano and René Jacobs, Iván Fischer, and Antonio Pappano and in concert with orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the MDR Symphony orchestra, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, and Ensemble Modern. Numerous radio and record recordings document her artistic work.
