Kaspar Zehnder studied flute and conducting in Bern, Basel, Paris and Siena and since 2014 has been chief conductor of the Sinfonie Orchester Biel Solothurn. From 2018 he will also take the same position at the Philharmonic Orchestra Hradec Králové / Czech Republic. He has been Artistic Director of the Murten Classics Summer Festival since 1999 and, since its founding in 2015, Artistic Director of the KlanGantrisch Festival. From 2005 to 2008 he was chief conductor of the Prague Philharmonic, and from 2004 to 2012 musical director at the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern. Kaspar Zehnder enjoys close ties with the English Chamber Orchestra, the Slovak Philharmonic, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Odense Symphony Orchestra and many orchestras and opera houses in France, Germany and Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania.
In addition to his duties as a conductor, Kaspar Zehnder still performs as a flutist. In early 2016, he undertook a chamber music tour through Europe with Magdalena Kožená, Sir Simon Rattle and members of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The project was recorded on CD in 2017 and will go on tour again in 2019.
