Just 6 is a male a cappella ensemble from Johannesburg, which has focused largely on afro pop/soul as well as jazz and contemporary gospel since it was founded in 2011. However, it also feels a responsibility towards the African vocal traditions. The group is both open and happy to experiment. They have included German folk songs and songs from the classical repertoire in their concert programmes.
The ensemble consists of a unique combination of voices that have taken very different paths. Together they founded ‘Afro-Vocal-Play’, a unique mix of African indigenous sounds and delicate harmonies.
Just 6 have performed in many countries in Africa and Europe and in the past few years they have won two national and two international awards.
They have released several successful EPs and LPs, including ‘Stimela’, ‘Take Me Back’ and the award-winning album ‘Kuzolunga’.
