About

Vladimir Mikhailovich Jurowski is a Russian and British conductor. He is the son of conductor Michail Jurowski, and grandson of Soviet film music composer Vladimir Michailovich Jurowski.

As a Symphony conductor, Jurowski is primarily associated with the London Philharmonic orchestra (the main orchestra of the Glyndebourne festival) and the state Orchestra of Russia. With the latter, in particular, since 2013, he holds regular cycles of educational concerts in Moscow, accompanying the performed works with his reflections and comments - so, about the concerts of 2015, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second world war, criticism wrote that they were "a tragic anti-war cycle, unprecedented in scale, significance, exclusivity of the repertoire and the power of influence on the public."

With The London Philharmonic orchestra, Jurowski made his debut in December 2001, replacing Yuri Temirkanov, who cancelled his tours, and aroused enthusiastic response from critics who stated "love at first sight between the conductor and the orchestra". In 2003, Jurowski took the post of chief guest conductor of the orchestra, and in September 2007 he headed it. Vladimir Jurowski also noted that in 2016 he brought the London Philharmonic orchestra to Moscow with a concert, where he conducted it.
