Julian Prégardien was born in 1984 in Frankfurt and received his first musical education in the choirs of the Limburg Cathedral Music. After studying in Freiburg and as part of the Academy of the Opera Festival of Aix en Provence, he was a member of the Frankfurt Opera from 2009 to 2013. At the same time his international concert activity developed. Meanwhile, the tenor is an internationally outstanding representative of the young generation of singers.
As an opera singer he has performed at the Festival d'Aix en Provence, at the Hamburgische Staatsoper and the Bavarian State Opera as well as at the Opéra Comique in Paris. In 2018 he made his debut as Narraboth in Richard Strauss's "Salome" (directed by Romeo Castellucci) with the Vienna Philharmonic under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst. In 2019 he made his debut as Tamino at the Staatsoper Berlin under the direction of Alondra de la Parra.
In the season 2018/2019 he performs ao. with the Munich Philharmonic, the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Orchester Symphonique de Montréal and the Bavarian Radio Choir. He is "Artiste Ètoile" of the Mozartfest Würzburg, where he is u.a. with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. In the season 2019/2020 his debut with the Cleveland Orchestra with Mendelssohn's "Lobgesang" under Franz Welser-Möst, anniversary tours with the Collegium Vocale Gent at Christmas and Easter (St. Matthew Passion among others at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan), an evening with Mozart arias in the Kölner Philharmonie as well as concerts with the Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France.
A special focus of the artistic activity of Julian Prégardiens are recitals and chamber music projects. In the season 19/20 he sings u.a. "Die schöne Müllerin" with Kristian Bezuidenhout, "Winterreise" with Lars Vogt, "Schwanengesang" with Martin Helmchen and "Dichterliebe" with Eric le Sage. With Sir Andra's ship he sings Brahms "Liebesliederwalzer" in Vicenza, at Schubertiade Schwarzenberg the "Spanish Liederspiel" by Robert Schumann.
Julian Prégardien is the exclusive artist of the Alpha Classics label.
He is professor for singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, member of the Schumann network and artistic director of the Brentano Academy Aschaffenburg.
