Jürgen Sacher was born in Augsburg. He studied at the College of music with Ks. Leonore Kirschstein sang and examined as opera and concert singer. He also closed the Sudium there for Kath. Church music (B – exam ), and private music teacher with success. The first radio recordings at the WDR in Cologne followed in the same year.

His first Engagement at the Heidelberger Theater lasted two years. Then three seasons joined the Dortmund Opera House. He has been a member of the ensemble of the Hamburg State Opera since 1991.

There he expanded his Repertoire from the playing gate and games such as David, Pedrillo, Fenton, dance master and young servant to the Iyric Mozart gate and further to the character gate.


Jürgen Sacher already sang under conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Kent Nagano, Semyon Bychkov, Horst Stein, Christian Thielemann, Ingo Metzmacher, Michael Boder, Kirill Petrenko or Simone Young.


Guest appearances of Jürgen Sacher, among other things, to the Berlin Staatsoper, Vienna, Brussels, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Japan, the Milan Scala and the Salzburg festival.
Numerous television, radio and record productions testify to his diverse abilities. Regular concert performances are also part of the tenor's obligations. Among the awards is the scholarship of the Richard Wagner Association and the funding prize of the Hamburg State Opera.

During the Hamburg new production of Wagner's "Ring", Jürgen Sacher took over the role of Mime in the premier series of the "Rheingold". In the 2009/10 season, he repeatedly sang The Witch in Huperdinck's Hansel And Gretel and debuted for the first time as Herod in Willy Deckers Salome by R. Strauss. In 2011 he sang the Novagerio in the new production of Pfitzner's "Palestrina". In addition, he will be back as Loge and Mime in "das Rheingold" as well as "Siegfried" Mime in the Ring. In addition, in this season, he sings again his very successful Mastersinger David on the occasion of the Wagner year.
