Jörg Faßmann (*1966 in Dessau) is a German violinist and university teacher music.
Jörg Faßmann, born in Dessau in 1966, was awarded his first prize at the age of five . He was a prizewinner of various competitions for young people and made his debut as a soloist at the age of nine . He completed his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig with Klaus Hertel and in the master class Gustav Schmahl at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. In 1987, he joined the Saxon Staatskapelle Dresden and became the first concert champion in 1989.
Since 1992 he has held a teaching position at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden and was appointed in 2011. In addition, he is a chamber music partner in Europe, the USA and Japan in great demand and has conducted master classes in Spain, Germany and the USA.
In 1995, he co-founded the Dresdner String Trio, which has since developed a wide Repertoire, produced extensive CD and radio recordings and was a guest at Festivals such as the Rheingau music Festival, the MDR Musiksommer and the Walkenrieder Kreuzgangkonzerten.
He is also the first Violinist of the ensemble Frauenkirche, founded in 2005. With Cornelia Osterwald and Lenka Matějáková he gave concerts as a Baroque trio Dresden-Leipzig. He has been playing with Lenka Matějáková, Andreas Kuhlmann, Matthias Wilde and Dariya Hrynkiv since 2016.
Jörg Faßmann plays a copy of the violin "Il Cannone" by Giuseppe Guarnieri from the Masterpiece workshop of Joachim Schade (Halle/Saale).
