About
Jon Roskilly is a trombonist and specialist for new music. He has worked directly with composers such as Georges Aperghis, Steve Takasugi, Vinko Globokar, Thomas Kessler and Rebecca Saunders and appears regularly with renowned ensembles such as Ensemble MusikFabrik, Klangforum Wien and Ensemble Phoenix Basel.
He has performed at festivals such as Wien Modern, Warsaw Autumn, Ruhrtriennale, Zeiträume Basel, Rümlingen, the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music and many more. His interest in contemporary music has lead him to give workshops for composers in writing for the trombone in Basel, Lugano and Goldsmith’s, University of London, and he runs a YouTube channel, New Trombone Stuff, designed to encourage student and young professional trombonists to engage with new music for the trombone. Jon is currently based in Basel, Switzerland.
