Born in Seoul, Korea, Ji-Hyun Son earned a Bachelor of Music from The Curtis Institute of Music and Master of Music from The Juilliard School.
Ms. Son is a member of the Grant Park Orchestra in Chicago during the summer and she freelances as a substitute violist with Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra and New York City Ballet. Her numerous awards include first prize in the 2005 Concerto Competition at the Juilliard School, “Audience Prize” in the Washington International Competition in 2006, “Kenneth Leighton Trust” Award in the Tertis International Viola Competition in 2003, and second place in the 2002 Holland-America Music Society Competition. Ms. Son attended the Marlboro Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Festival and Verbier Music Festival.
