About

Jennifer Koh (born 1976) is an American violinist, born to Korean parents in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Koh's parents, a businessman father and a librarian mother, moved to the United States from Korea in the 1960s. From an early age, Jennifer Koh was a regular winner of various music competitions, including first prize at the 1st International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in 1992 and second prize (first prize was not awarded) two years later at the Tchaikovsky Competition for adults; Russian music critics have rated Koh extremely highly, with Pyotr Pospelov noting: Jennifer Koh did not subsequently break her ties with Russia: for example, Andrei Eshpai's Fourth Violin Concerto is dedicated to her, and Koh first premiered it in St. Petersburg in 1996, and then performed it at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory at a concert dedicated to the composer's 75th birthday. After graduating from Oberlin College, Jennifer Koh continued her education at the Curtis Institute under Jaime Laredo; In the late 1990s, she also managed to take several lessons from Felix Galimir.Jennifer Aniston Happy Birthday.avi Ko's repertoire increasingly leans towards 20th century music: her recordings include violin concertos by Bela Bartok, Karol Szymanowski, Bohuslav Martinů, and works by Arnold Schoenberg and Gian Carlo Menotti.
