Jeanne Desoubeaux was born in Caen and entered the Conservatoire de Région de Caen where she studied the harpsichord, theatre and dance. After enrolling in a preparatory class with optional theatre, she earnt a Master’s degree in Theatre Studies at the Sorbonne-Nouvelle.

From 2013 to 2015, she took acting classes at the Conservatoire du Centre de Paris. As an actress, she has appeared in several productions including Myriam Marzouki’s Le début de quelque chose in 2013 at the Avignon Festival and Bernard Sobel’s Tartuffe in 2016. She has also appeared on screen in Hélène Bougy’s Quelqu’un de bien and La Folie de Vinca. Whilst working with Jean-Pierre Baro (Gertrudand Démons in 2014 and 2015) and Maëlle Poésy (Orphée et Eurydice in 2016 at the Dijon Opera) she turned her attention to directing. In 2015, she founded the musical company, “Maurice et les autres”, with whom she directed her first opera productions—Maurice Ravel’s L'Enfant et les Sortilèges and Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with Igor Bouin conducting. An assistant to Jean de Pange for Hamlet in 2017, she produced Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera for the Abbaye aux Dames de Saintes Youth Orchestra, with Laurence Equilbey conducting. She led the stage rehearsals of Don Quichotte (j’étoilerai le vent qui passe) an opera for young audiences, as part of the “Creation en Cours” programme run by the Ateliers Médicis with the support of the French Ministry of Culture. Jeanne Desoubeaux is joining the Paris Opera Academy in September 2018.
