Jean-Baptiste Monnot (born 4 August 1984) is a French organist. He is the holder of the great Aristide Cavaillé-Coll organ of the abbatiale Saint-Ouen of Rouen.
Since 2015, Jean-Baptiste Monnot is the holder of the great Cavaillé-Coll organ of the abbey church Saint-Ouen of Rouen6. Each summer, he gives a masterclass with international outreach.7
His concert career led him to perform regularly as a soloist or with ensemble throughout the world : Toulouse, Paris, Berlin8, Vienna, Sydney, London, Kiev, Kazan, Perm, Rome, etc. and in recital in New York, Cleveland, New Orleans, Boston, etc.
In 2010, he was appointed artist-in-residence at the Cathedral of Saint Louis King of France in New Orleans for a period of six months9. In the same year, he created the stage music of Jean Guillou for William Shakespeare's Macbeth10 in Kyoto and Nagoya, Japan.
He also performed with the Voronezh Orchestra, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kyiv Philharmonic Orchestra and in organ and piano concert with Valérie Schaeffer at the Vienna Österreichischer Rundfunk, as well as in 4 hands with Benjamin Alard, Sarah Kim, Paul Goussot, Mathias Lecomte and in trumpet and organ duo with Fabien Norbert11.
In addition to his concert activities, Jean-Baptiste Monnot has taught at the Conservatoire international de musique de Paris from 2004 to 2010, and at the Conservatoire à rayonnement départemental de Mantes-la-Jolie12 from 2012 to 2016. He was the holder of the historic Georges Wenner organ of the Church of Saint-Louis-Des-Chartrons in Bordeaux13 from 2004 to 2013 and the holder of the historic Joseph Merklin organ of the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame de Mantes-la-Jolie from 2013 to 2016.
He is also the designer and principal interpreter of the organ of the Voyage14. Transportable and modular, this unique instrument allows the organ and its repertoire to be openly accessible in various and unexpected places.
