Canadian designer Jay Gower Taylor made his Royal Ballet debut in the 2016/17 Season on Crystal Pite’s Flight Pattern.
Gower Taylor worked as a dancer for 20 years with companies including Ballet British Columbia. Early credits as a designer included for Dancemakers, collaborating with Serge Bennathan on Absences, The Invisible Life of John Finch and the film Quand les Grandmères s’envolent for CBC’s ‘Opening Night’. Further collaborations with Bennathan include Elles. Engagements elsewhere include Electric Company Theatre’s No Exit, directed by Kim Collier.
Gower Taylor’s previous designs for Pite include The Seasons’ Canon (Paris Opera Ballet), Plot Point, Frontier and Solo Echo (Nederlands Dans Theater), Emergence(National Ballet of Canada) and Dark Matters, The Tempest Replica and Betroffenheit(Kidd Pivot).
