About
Jaap Kwakman (Volendam, May 20, 1977) is a Dutch musician, lyricist and composer who became known as a member of the 3JS. He plays the guitar, mandolin and piano and also provides backing vocals for the 3JS.
During his youth, Kwakman played in several bands, including One Vision, the predecessor of the later Trots (also known as Father's Trots). At the age of fifteen, he was asked by cover band Jen Rog as a guitarist. After about ten years he left this band and stepped out of the music world; he found a job as a stock trader at a company in Amsterdam. In 1998 he came in for a few months as BZN guitarist as a replacement for the sick Dirk van der Horst.
He later became a guitarist in the backing band of singer Sita and then he played with fellow 3JS member Jan Dulles in the band Bluebus. The band recorded a rock album, which never came out. They did play in the supporting act of Bon Jovi in the Goffertpark in Nijmegen. The activities with Bluebus were discontinued to fully focus on the 3JS.
Kwakman is married to Jenny Veerman. In 2011 he became the father of a daughter and in 2014 the father of a son.
