Born in the north of France, Jérôme Verhaeghe, after his debut at the Conservatory of Douai, enters the National Conservatory of Music of Paris, where he obtains the first prizes of clarinet and chamber music in the classes of Michel Arrignon and Christian Ivaldi. During his years of study, he was the first laureate of the Lion's Club International in Cannes, where he performed the Mozart concerto with the Cannes Provence Côte d'Azur Orchestra under the direction of Philippe Binder. The following year, he obtains his Clarinet Teacher Certificate and is a laureate of the International Chamber Competition of Martigny.
In 1991, he was named clarinet solo at the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra and professor at the conservatory of that city. In 1997 he joined the Orchester de l'Opéra National de Paris and taught at the Conservatoire Municipal de XIIIème arrondissement. He gives many concerts both in France and abroad. He has performed with Edita Gruberova at the Ludwigsburg Festival, or in Luxembourg as a soloist with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Théodore Guschelbauer, in the United States at the Round Top Festival.
