Overview

The newly created acrobatic theater "Platform" is produced by the Publicity Department of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism, and the Guangzhou Cultural Development Group Co., Ltd., and created and performed by the Guangzhou Acrobatic Art Theater. It aims to be an attempt at a new art form - "new circus", and through the perspective of travelers, it shows the profound pursuit of human beings for dreams, freedom, courage and life exploration.

The play revolves around the experiences and feelings of travelers during their long journeys, reflecting everyone's deep desire for the unknown, courage for challenges, and exploration of the meaning of life, and emphasizes that even in the face of difficulties and uncertainties, people still need to firmly pursue their dreams and move forward. At the same time, "Platform" also conveys that in the process of pursuing dreams, we need to maintain inner brightness and hope, and face every challenge and opportunity in life with a positive attitude, encouraging people to bravely pursue their dreams, constantly surpass themselves, and achieve spiritual freedom and growth.

"Platform" is a unique contemporary acrobatic theater work. Its artistic feature lies in the in-depth exploration of traditional acrobatic concepts and the innovative combination of modern art forms - the innovative application of traditional acrobatic techniques: "Platform" has made bold innovations on the basis of inheriting the essence of traditional acrobatics. It has given acrobatics new artistic connotations and expressiveness by extracting and recreating acrobatic concepts such as weightlessness, flying, throwing and catching, and control. Combined with the actors' superb skills and precise control, the traditional acrobatic elements are interpreted to the fullest, allowing the audience to feel the infinite charm of acrobatic art in amazement.

Diverse integration of modern art forms: In terms of artistic form, "Platform" has made bold attempts and breakthroughs, combining modern dance, drama, physical drama and other art forms to enrich the artistic conception and expression of the whole play, and show the inner world and emotional changes of the characters at multiple levels, allowing the audience to feel the depth of the plot and the fullness of the characters while enjoying the acrobatic performances.

Creative design of stage equipment: In terms of stage equipment, "Platform" adopts the design concept of "one thing with multiple uses", so that every prop and device on the stage has multiple functions and meanings, allowing it to constantly change its form and use as the plot progresses, adding a sense of layering to the whole.

In-depth exploration of the theme: In terms of content creation, Platform explores themes such as dreams, courage, and freedom through the depiction of the traveler's adventurous journey, reflecting that on the road to pursuing dreams, one must not only face external difficulties and challenges, but also overcome inner fears and hesitations. He continues to grow and change during the journey, and finally finds his own direction and goal. This theme is not only consistent with the essence of acrobatic art, but also triggers the audience's deep thinking about the meaning and value of life.

Guangzhou Opera House is a Chinese opera house in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, People's Republic of China. Designed by Zaha Hadid, it opened on the 9th of May in 2010.

In April 2002 an international architectural competition attracted Coop Himmelb(l)au, Rem Koolhaas and Zaha Hadid – each producing detailed designs. In November 2002, Zaha Hadid's "double pebble" was announced the winner and the groundbreaking ceremony was held early in 2005.

The theatre has become the biggest performing centre in southern China and is one of the three biggest theatres in the nation alongside Beijing's National Centre for the Performing Arts and Shanghai's Shanghai Grand Theatre. May 2010 saw American filmmaker Shahar Stroh direct the premiere production of the opera house: Puccini's opera Turandot which had in previous years been a controversial opera in China.

The structure was designed by Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid. It is conceived as two rocks washed away by the Pearl River. Its freestanding concrete auditorium set within an exposed granite and glass-clad steel frame took over five years to build, and was praised upon opening by architectural critic Jonathan Glancey in The Guardian, who called it "at once highly theatrical and insistently subtle."
