Igor Alexandrovich Golovatenko (born October 17, 1980, Saratov) is a Russian opera singer (baritone), a leading soloist of the Bolshoi Theater (since 2014). Honored Artist of Russia (2018)

Igor Golovatenko was born in Saratov, in a family of musicians.

He graduated from the Central Music School of Saratov in three specialties: piano (C. Elvira Chernykh / Tatiana Fedorovna Ershova), cello (C. Nadezhda Nikolaevna Skvortsova) and composition (V. Vladimir Michelet).

In 1997 he entered the Saratov State Conservatory. L.V. Sobinova, in the cello class of Professor Lev Vladimirovich Ivanov (Gokhman), where he studied until 2000. He acted as a soloist with orchestras of the Saratov Philharmonic and the Saratov Conservatory, performed cello concerts by L. Bokerrini, C. Saint-Saens, A. Dvorak, and P. I. Tchaikovsky's Variations on the Rococo Theme. With the orchestra "Young Russia" conducted by M. Gorenstein, Shostakovich played the first concert for cello and orchestra (2001, Saratov, Saratov Philharmonic Hall).

In 1999, he first appeared at the console of the symphony orchestra of the Saratov Conservatoire, with whom he collaborated until 2003. He also performed with the Symphony Orchestra of the Saratov Regional Philharmonic as a guest conductor. He first performed the compositions of the Saratov composer Gokhman Elena Vladimirovna (1935–2010) “Ave Maria” (2001) and “Twilight” (2002) for soloists, choir and orchestra. Among the symphonic works performed during this time are: “Don Juan” by Richard Strauss, “Francesca da Rimini” by Tchaikovsky, the overture “The Roman Carnival” by Berlioz, “Bolero” by Ravel, etc.

In 2000 he entered the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky at the department of opera-symphonic conducting in the class of professor Vasily Serafimovich Sinai. He graduated with honors in 2005 in the class of the People's Artist of the USSR, Professor Gennady Nikolayevich Rozhdestvensky. While studying at the Moscow Conservatory for the first time in Russia, he conducted the “Concerto for Woodwind, Harp and Orchestra” by P. Hindemith (2002, Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatory).

In 2006, he entered an internship at the Academy of Choral Art in the class of solo singing of Professor Dmitry Yuryevich Vdovin (now the head of the Bolshoi Theater Youth Program), who continues to improve.

In April 2006, a vocal debut took place on the stage of the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International House of Music. He sang the baritone part in the “Mass of Life” by the English composer Frederick Delius (German text, “So Spoke Zarathustra” by Fr. Nietzsche) with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia conducted by Vladimir Spivakov, and the choir of the Academy of Choral Art led by V. S. Popov. First performance in Russia.

Since 2007, he has been a soloist with the Moscow Theater Novaya Opera. He made his debut in the theater in the parties Marullo ("Rigoletto" by G. Verdi) and the Orator ("The Magic Flute" by Mozart).

In October 2010, the singer made his debut in St. Petersburg in the Great Hall of the Philharmonic Hall of St. Petersburg. Fragments of the “Mass of Life” (some choral numbers and parts where the baritone was solo) were performed, accompanied by the Academic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alexander Titov.

Since 2010 he has been a guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, where he debuted as Falk (“The Bat” by I. Strauss, conductor Christoph-Mathias Muller, director Vasily Barkhatov).

The first performance of the singer on the historical stage of the Bolshoi Theater took place in the role of Georges Germont (“La Traviata” by G. Verdi, conductor Laurent Campellone, stage director Francesca Zammello) in 2012.

Since September 2014 - soloist of the Bolshoi Theater.

In August 2018, he was awarded the honorary title Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
