About
Hyun-Jong Roh studied music at Hansei University in South Korea before taking voice classes at the Parma Conservatory with Juliano Ciannella and Lelio Capilupi. In France, he studied at the Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt, where he was unanimously awarded the first prize in singing in the class of Liliane Mazeron.
Since 2002, he has been a prizewinner in numerous international singing competitions, including Minerbio, Umberto Sacchetti, Mantua, Rhodesne, Riccardo Zandonai, and Marmande. He has given numerous recitals in Korea, France and Italy. In concert, he has sung the tenor solo in Franz Liszt’s Gaudeamus Igitur (Parma Cathedral) and he was invited as a tenor solo to the Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Paris for Paul Claudel’s Mystère de la conversion. On stage, Hyun-Jong Roh has performed the roles of Giuseppe in La Traviata at the Seoul Opera, the duke of Mantua in Rigoletto and Rodolphe in La Bohème in Parma, and Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola at the Festival d’Île-de-France. He is a member of the Paris Opera Chorus.
