The baritone Holger Falk "is one of the most mentally and vocally moving singers on German stages", writes the magazine Opernwelt. He has performed numerous works by contemporary composers such as Wolfgang Rihm, Peter Eötvös, Beat Furrer, Georges Aperghis, Michael Wertmüller, Miroslav Srnka and Steffen Schleiermacher.  Invitations led him to the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Staatsoper Hamburg, the Opera Frankfurt, the La Monnaie, the Teatro Real, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées Paris, the Theater an der Wien, the National Opera Warsaw, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Cologne Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Bozar Brussels, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, The Frick New York and the Phillips-Collection Washington. In 2017, he was nominated for the role of Cassandra in Iannis Xenakis "Oresteia" at the Theater Basel (directed by Calixto Bieito) by the classic magazine "Opernwelt" as "singer of the year". Furthermore, he was awarded the ECHO Klassik for his overall recording of the "Mélodies et Chansons" by Erik Satie and received the annual German record Critics Award for the CD Hanns Eisler Lieder Vol. 1., the first of a four part series of songs by Hanns Eisler. He is Professor of song interpretation and performance practice of contemporary music for singers at the University of music and Performing Arts Graz.
