Heidi Hackl was born in Kolsass / Tirol. After graduating from the" Fachschule für Angewandte Malerei " in Innsbruck, she studied costume and stage design at the Mozarteum Salzburg. Since 1986 she has been a freelance costume designer and since 1992 she has been working closely with Martin Martin Kušej. So, for example, at the Staatstheater Stuttgart "street corner", "the unknown from the Seine", "Clavigo", "Oedipus"), Schauspielhaus Hamburg ("the Prince of Homburg"), at the Volksbühne Berlin ("Richard III"), Burgtheater Vienna ("faith love hope") and at the Residenztheater Munich ("Faust", "Phädras Nacht", "the bitter tears of Petra von Kant"). For the opera, works were created at the Zurich Opera House ("Salome", "Elektra", "Die Zauberflöte", "Genoveva") and at the Bavarian State Opera Munich ("Rusalka", "La forza del destino") - in all productions directed by Martin Kušej. With Jürgen Flimm, Andrea Breth and Tina Lanik costume designs were created at the Opera House Zurich, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Burgtheater Vienna and the Residenztheater Munich. Since November 2000, Heidi Hackl has also worked as a freelance creative director at " Circus, Büro für Kommunikation und Gestaltung / Innsbruck "and since December 2002 she has been editor-in-chief of the cultural magazine" Quart Heft für Kultur Tirol", together with Andreas Schett.
