Gideon Davey is from Bristol, UK and works as a costume designer for theater, film and television.
In 2005 he was named "Costume Designer of the Year" by the trade magazine Opernwelt for his costumes in "Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria" in Munich. His first works include the costumes for the Andreas Homoki productions of »Pagliacci« and »Von heute auf morgen« at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, »Der Rosenkavalier« and »Robin Hood« at the Komische Oper Berlin, as well as »Roméo et Juliette "at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. A close cooperation connects him with David Alden, with whom he u.a. "Luisa Miller" (Lyon), "Radamisto" (Santa Fe, English National Opera), who has brought the "Ring" (Munich), "Don Giovanni" (Cologne) and "Alcina" (Berlin) on stage. In 2013 he designed the costumes for David et Jonathas at the Opéra Comique Paris, The Mastersingers of Nuremberg at the National Opera Amsterdam and The Cunning Little Vixen in Strasbourg. With his costume design for "La traviata" Gideon Davey worked for the first time at the Semperoper Dresden.
