The choir was founded on July 4th 1991 by 24 singing women who no longer only wanted to accompany their husbands on concert tours of the Bremen Police Choir. A women's choir quickly grew out of this with a broad repertoire from classical to pop. Today it has 50 active and 25 passive members. Many small and large appearances have encouraged the fun of singing together as well as the ambition to shape one's own voice.
The choir is a welcome guest in hospitals, old people's homes, at private parties and of course at regional concerts, charity events and Christmas concerts. The highlights of choir life so far have included the television recordings of a satire with Maren Kroymann on Radio Bremen, the performance of Beethoven's oratorio “Christ on the Mount of Olives”, the performance at EXPO 2000 in Hanover on “Police Day” and participation in a CD for the flood victims in Indonesia. Another big highlight was participation in the six concerts of the Music Show of Nations in January 2009 in the AWD Dome Bremen. Choir trips took the singers to befriended police choirs in Kiel, Münster, Bruchsal, Fulda, Dresden, Detmold, Bochum, Braunschweig, Hamburg and Hanover.
A choir weekend has been held annually in Bad Zwischenahn for more than 20 years. There is intensive rehearsal, vocal training and of course after strenuous hours also partying (and continuing to sing).
The musical direction of the choir has been in the hands of Cornelia Grundhoff since 2012, who further shapes the choir and enlivens it with her accents.
In June 2013, to the great joy of the choir, Police President Lutz Müller took over the patronage of the choir.
