Francesco Ivan Ciampa class '82 of Avellino, graduated very young in conducting at the Conservatory of Music “Santa Cecilia” of Rome with Maestro Bruno Aprea, in composition with Maestro Giacomo Vitale and in instrumentation for Band at the Conservatory of Music "D. Cimarosa" of Avellino. He is also a graduate of cultural heritage and conservation.

He continues perfecting himself in conducting at major national and international music academies and schools such as:
- Accademia Musicale Chigiana with Carlo Maria Giulini (1999) and Gianluigi Gelmetti (2008)
- Fundacion Eutherpe, Spain with Bruno Aprea
- Accademia di Musica di Stresa with Gianandrea Noseda (2006 and 2009)
- Music School of Fiesole with Gabriele Ferro (2008)
- Fondazione “I Pomeriggi Musicali " with Jorma Panula (2008)

Winner of the” national prize of the Arts " edition 2010/2011 - Section conducting-Commission chaired by Maestro Piero Bellugi.
Winner of The National Competition for orchestral banned from the M. I. U. R. in collaboration with the Vicariate of Rome where he conducted the Orchestra of the Italian Conservatories in the Christmas Concert in honour of His Holiness Benedict XVI performing the Symphony no. 8 by Schubert.
Winner of the scholarship (2007) at the V Master Course for pianists and conductors in Leon (Spain).
He was Music Director of the Stage and the assistant of M° Daniel Oren, at the Teatro G. Verdi in Salerno from 2008 to 2012, during which time he worked on several opera productions in other important theatres such as the Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Arena di Verona for the opening of the 90th Festival 2012 with “Don Giovanni” of W. A. Mozart.

Over the past three years he has directed lyrical and symphonic productions of national and international festivals such as:
Opera Bastille-Paris “" La Traviata", acclaimed production with Diana Damrau, Ludovic Tezier and Francesco De Muro broadcast live in cinemas around the world;
Teatro La Fenice-Venice: the famous and successful production of” La Traviata " directed by Robert Carsen;
Teatro Colon-Buenos Aires: applauded April 2015 production of” L'elisir d'amore " directed by Sergio Renan;
The Israeli Opera-Tel Aviv: New Production of " Nabucco”, with considerable success of audience and critics;
Herkulessaal-Munich: concert with Diana Damrau and Munchner Rundfunkorchester;
National Theater of Astana-Kazakhstan: the magical “Traviata of Mirrors” by Svoboda/Brockhaus;

He is professor of orchestral exercises at the Conservatory Nicola Sala in Benevento.
In 2009 he founded with the director Emanuele Di Muro the "Opera / orchestral workshop" creating a close collaboration with the International Festival “Benevento Città Spettacolo”.
The first work performed was “first The Music and then the words” by A. Salieri in the year 2009. In 2010 the Opera “L'italiana in London” by D. Cimarosa was staged at the Teatro Comunale in Benevento and at the Teatro Bibiena in Mantua, thanks to which the International Prize “Domenico Cimarosa” second edition city of Aversa was awarded to the Conservatorio Nicola Sala in Benevento. In 2011 he directed “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” by G. Rossini at the Municipal Theater of Benevento and later in the beautiful setting of the Court Theater of the Royal Palace of Caserta, in 2012” L'elisir d'amore " by G. Donizetti staged at the prestigious Roman Theater of Benevento. In 2013 the workshop staged "La Boheme" by Puccini performed at the Roman Theatre in Benevento and the Teatro Carlo Gesualdo in Avellino.

Among the next commitments, another great production of "Madama Butterfly “will bring him back, after the success of” Turandot" in 2013, to the Gran Teatro G. Puccini for the 61st edition of the Festival Pucciniano in Torre del Lago directed by Renzo Giacchieri. In Turin, in the Teatro Regio, he will direct a production of "La Traviata" as part of Expo 2015. In Piacenza he will direct "Macbeth “with the great Leo Nucci and will see the debut in the direction of” Nabucco" at the prestigious theaters of the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and Las Palmas.
