Florian Schötz was born in Munich and received his first violin lessons at the age of five. At the age of 14, he was admitted to the violin class of Prof. Rudolf-Joachim Koeckert at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. After graduating from high school in 2010, he began studying at the Musikhochschule Nürnberg in the class of Prof. Daniel Gaede. Florian Schötz has been his assistant since 2017. He also studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Gerhard Schulz.
Florian Schötz took masterclasses with Prof. Ulf Hoelscher, Prof. Heime Müller, Prof. Roman Nodel and Prof. Ingolf Turban.
Florian Schötz is a prizewinner at the national competition "Jugend musiziert", string competition of the LIONS Club Nürnberg and chamber music competition of the Mozartverein 1829 e.V. Nürnberg.
First violin of the Goldmund Quartet, Florian Schötz pursues a busy international concert career. The quartet won First Prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition 2018 and Second Prize at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition 2018.
Since the beginning of his studies Florian Schötz has been supported by "Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Munich". He also received scholarships from the Köhler-Kast-Foundation, the Richard-Wagner-Stipendienstiftung, the Sparda-Bank Nürnberg. In 2015 he was awarded the Scholarship of Germany.
Florian Schötz plays on a violin by Giovanni Paolo Maggini, a generous loan from private ownership.
