About the Sommets musicaux de Gstaad
Since its creation in 2001, the Festival des Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad has become the benchmark winter event which thrills all classical music lovers. Each year, for nine days, young talents, orchestras, internationally renowned artists and Swiss and foreign music lovers choose this snowy setting to make the most beautiful pages of classical music vibrate.
The Festival is structured around three pillars: three cycles of concerts spread over three exceptional venues. In the afternoon, the Chapel of Gstaad gives pride of place to promising youth with a series of concerts highlighting a particular instrument. In the evening, the churches of Rougemont and Saanen delight the public with great soloists and major orchestras with international influence.
A true winter crossroads, the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, through dinners given at the Gstaad Palace at the end of the concerts, promote exceptional encounters between artists, a music-loving audience and the Festival's partners.
Since 2002, the festival, in association with a partner, has rewarded one of the young hopefuls with the Thierry Scherz Prize by offering him the recording of his first CD with the label Claves Records.
Awarded for the first time in 2013, the André Hoffmann Prize rewards the best interpretation of a work by the composer in residence.
