Dear guests of the Liszt Festival Raiding, welcome to the new 2023 concert season! In addition to the established Liszt Festival cycles in June and October, the Baroque Jazz Festival in March and the Family Concerts in December, also will presented the new Brass Festival in May.
The established Liszt Festival cycles from June 9th to 25th and October 6th to 22nd offer many program highlights. In addition to great piano recitals with BORIS BLOCH, DARIA KOVALEVA, LISE DE LA SALLE, OLGA SCHEPS, MAYA ANDO and MARIA RADUTU, the violin is a focal point in the new concert season - in the spirit of Liszt and his Paganini fascination. Star violinist YURY REVICH together with HILA FAHIMA RUSCHIN and KRISTIN OKERLUND, the STRAUSS FESTIVAL ORCHESTER WIEN with conductor Christoph Koncz, the RADIO.STRING.QUARTET, BENJAMIN SCHMID, RUSANDA PANFILI and the ENSEMBLE MINUI ensure a brilliant variety of music. Other highlights are regular guests such as the JANOSKA ENSEMBLE, FERRY JANOSKA and the ORCHESTER WIENER AKADEMIE under the direction of MARTIN HASELBÖCK.
In 2023, too, the path continues in the direction of a year-round programme. The additional formats known from the previous year, the Baroque Jazz Festival in March and the Family Concerts in December, offer top-class musical experiences apart from the festival cycles in June and October this year as well.
At the Baroque Jazz Festival from March 17th to 19th, the internationally renowned L'ORFEO BAROCKORCHESTER with founder and conductor MICHI GAIGG will be on the Raidinger concert stage for the first time. With the KUTROWATZ PIANO DUO, percussionist ANTON MÜHLHOFER processes his intensive travel impressions from Cuba, Latin America and Africa into musical atmospheres. At the jazz matinee, GERALD PREINFALK and his friends devote themselves to the work of the legendary jazz saxophonist Paul Desmond.
For the first time in 2023, the Brass Festival on the Pentecost weekend, May 26th - 28th, will provide musical superlatives. Starting with a square concert by the Sopron town band and the Raidinger Musikverein, the program includes DA BLECHHAUF'N and the KUTROWATZ PIANO DUO, THOMAS GANSCH with his SUPERGROUP and the SAXON WIND PHILHARMONIE with its unique symphonic wind sound. At the end of this concert format, the MILITÄRMUSIK DES MILITÄRKOMMANDOS BURGENLAND wraps the whole of Raiding in a cloud of sound.
"PETER UND DER WOLF" with audience favorite MAX MÜLLER awaits visitors on December 9th and 10th at the Family Concerts as part of the Advent Festival in Raiding. Even after more than 85 years since its creation, Prokofiev's musical fairy tale is one of the world's most frequently performed compositions of classical music.
About the Liszt Festival Raiding
As a pianist, conductor, composer and teacher, Franz Liszt was a commuter between worlds throughout his life, a true European who in every respect crossed borders, repeatedly redefining them and overcoming them in many areas. His work is the epitome of openness and renewal as well as a role model for many greats in music history.
Under the direction of Eduard and Johannes Kutrowatz, the Liszt Festival Raiding developed into the world's most important venue for the performance of Franz Liszt's works. With its architecturally award-winning and acoustically outstanding concert hall and the adjacent museum in the historic Liszt birthplace, the Liszt Center Raiding is one of the most internationally interesting cultural sites. The Liszt Festival Raiding presents world-class pianists and world-class singers, leading choirs and orchestras as well as ingenious frontiersmen of music.
In addition to the historic birthplace, a modern concert hall was built in 2006, which combines tradition and innovation in the middle of an enchanting park landscape.
The concert hall with 600 seats is characterized by exceptionally good acoustics. Liszt interpreters and Liszt fans from all over the world are drawn to the idyllic central Burgenland again and again to pay homage to the “sorcerer at the piano” at the Liszt Festival Raiding . The museum remains open for concert guests until the start of the concert, so that a visit to the museum and the enjoyment of the concert can be perfectly combined.
