About the Cultural Summer Laxenburg
Every year in the summer, Franzensburg Palace hosts the Cultural Summer Laxenburg Festival. Drama performances are presented at the festival.
The market town of Laxenburg in the Mödling district is around 20 kilometers from Vienna on the Schwechat river. The former summer imperial residence in the southern Vienna Woods has a lively history behind it. Today it is famous for one of the largest preserved park and palace complexes in Austria. Above all, Empress Maria Theresa loved the magnificent palace complex. Their children and other Habsburgs also used the palace as a summer residence. Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Sisi even spent their honeymoon in Laxenburg. Two of their children were born here. In summer, the large Laxenburg bathing pond area with three jetties and beach volleyball courts invites you to wonderfully relaxed days by the water.
