About

For 43 winters, the FIMC has marked the time of year when we have the opportunity to escape from almost everything to immerse ourselves in the darkness of an auditorium and feel the music on the surface. We expose ourselves to new stages and become in tune with the present.

The Canary Islands International Music Festival (FIMC) will celebrate its 43rd edition from January 9 to February 4, 2027, once again positioning the archipelago as the epicenter of the start of the European symphonic year.

Promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Institute of Cultural Development, the 43rd FIMC will offer a total of 56 concerts distributed among the eight islands. The programming seeks to guarantee interpretive excellence and equity in access to culture, combining the universal repertoire with contemporary creation and informative projects.

The main lineup will feature the participation of prominent international ensembles: Vienna Symphony, London Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Royal Opera of Versailles and Royal Concertgebouw of Amsterdam. Along with them, the two host orchestras: Symphony of Tenerife and Philharmonic of Gran Canaria. Also noteworthy are renowned soloists such as soprano Nadine Sierra, violinist María Dueñas, cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras, violinist Lisa Batiashvili, and pianist Javier Perianes.

The offer is complemented by a circuit of extraordinary concerts and the section In Parallel, designed to attract new audiences through genres ranging from Renaissance music, jazz and flamenco-jazz fusion to multidisciplinary and family-friendly shows.

A month that once again turns the Canary Islands into one “eight-movement symphony”, with music on twenty stages across all the islands.

Is Music Time. Enjoy it!

About the Canary Islands International Music Festival

The Canary Islands International Music Festival (Festival Internacional de Música de Canarias, FIMC) is one of Europe's leading winter classical music festivals and the most prestigious musical event in the Canary Islands. Founded in 1985, the festival brings together world-renowned orchestras, conductors, soloists, and chamber ensembles for a month-long celebration of classical music across the Atlantic archipelago.

Unlike traditional festivals centered in a single city, the Canary Islands International Music Festival spans all eight inhabited Canary Islands—Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, and La Graciosa. Concerts are presented in concert halls, historic theatres, churches, auditoriums, and cultural landmarks, making exceptional classical music accessible throughout the entire archipelago.

Held annually between January and February, the festival offers a unique opportunity to enjoy world-class performances during the European winter in the Canary Islands' mild subtropical climate. Each edition features an outstanding programme of symphonic concerts, chamber music, vocal recitals, and special projects performed by internationally acclaimed artists alongside Spain's leading orchestras and ensembles.

The festival is renowned for welcoming many of the world's finest orchestras and soloists. Over its history, audiences have enjoyed performances by celebrated ensembles from across Europe and appearances by some of classical music's most distinguished conductors and instrumentalists. Alongside the standard orchestral repertoire, the festival regularly presents contemporary works, commissions new compositions, and celebrates important musical anniversaries, creating programmes that combine tradition with artistic innovation.

Among its principal venues are the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus and the Teatro Pérez Galdós on Gran Canaria, as well as the Auditorio de Tenerife, complemented by performances in historic churches, theatres, and cultural centres across the islands. This travelling format allows each island to share in the festival's artistic excellence while showcasing its own architectural and cultural heritage.

Today, the Canary Islands International Music Festival stands as one of Spain's foremost classical music events, combining outstanding artistic quality with the extraordinary natural beauty of the Canary Islands. It offers audiences the rare opportunity to experience exceptional music while exploring volcanic landscapes, Atlantic coastlines, historic towns, and the unique cultural traditions of this remarkable archipelago.
