Federico Guglielmo is an Italian violinist and conductor. Defined by the Boston Globe as "the new star in the panorama of ancient music" is recognized for his performances of Antonio Vivaldi and Giuseppe Tartini which he recorded all the printed works and the full concert for violin and orchestra . His violin repertoire - performed mainly on historical instruments - ranges from Biagio Marini to Felix Mendelssohn ; as a violinist and director he pays particular attention to the recovery of lesser-known works of the classical-romantic period and to compositions of the twentieth century in neo-baroque and neoclassical style .
Born in Padua in 1968 Federico Guglielmo began studying the violin under the guidance of his father, graduating at eighteen, at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Venice in the class of Giuliano Carmignola; he then specialized for four years at the Accademia Stauffer in Cremona under the guidance of Salvatore Accardo and subsequently followed the masterclasses of violin with Stefan Gheorghiu, Vladimir Spivakov, Isaac Stern, chamber music with the Beaux Arts Trio, the Trio of Trieste (Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena), members of the Amadeus Quartet, Italian Quartet and the La Salle Quartet and orchestra conducting courses with Gianluigi Gelmetti.
At the age of 22 the victory of the 1st Prize at the "Vittorio Gui" International Competition in Florence launches his international career; in the same year, winning the national competition for professorships, he became the youngest lecturer in an Italian conservatory. Since then he has taught in the conservatories of Foggia and Florence and currently holds the chair of ensemble music for string instruments (quartet) at the Francesco Venezze Conservatory in Rovigo where he also holds courses in violin and baroque violin.
As a soloist (baroque / classical violin) and conductor he gives concerts all over the world. The historic The Academy of Ancient Music (London), the Handel & Haydn Society (Boston), the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra (Sydney) are just some of the orchestras that hosted it.
