Born in Turin, trained in Spain, Federico Fresi has been with the Scala dance group since 2008. Promoted last year as soloist of the Teatro alla Scala, he is now on his way to fly to the States, welcoming the invitation from the Boston Ballet. In the interview he recounts his studies in Spain, his first work experiences at the English National Ballet and in Spain where he became the first dancer and the choice to return to Italy, at La Scala. But also his passion for Michail Baryshnikov, for football and cinema, and his dancing life.
After Petra Conti, named Principal Dancer in November 2011 at the Boston Ballet, another dancer from the Scala family, currently a soloist of the Corps de Ballet, is joining the "happy" choir of those who packed up to fly overseas, thanks to a far-sighted permission of the master Makhar Vaziev: it is Federico Fresi who received and accepted the offer of a contract from First Soloist at the Boston Ballet.
Fresi is part of a new generation of Italian dancers who have made a career gaining success abroad, established professionals who combine strong technical and expressive qualities, expressive and dancers who love to travel, driven by the desire to enrich their artistic heritage, searching for precious stimuli, new repertoires and knowledge.
