About

The Italian soprano Federica Lombardi is one of the most sought-after artists of the young generation specialized in interpretation of the leading soprano roles in Mozart’s operatic works.

2019 will mark her US debut with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where she performs the part of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, in the same part she will also be heard at the May Festival in Wiesbaden and in a new production of the Staatsoper Hamburg. At the Teatro alla Scala in Milan she will sing for the first time the role of Elettra in a new production of Idomeneo conducted by Christoph von Dohnányi, in Munich she will be heard once more as Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro.

2020 she will return to Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she will appear for the first time as Desdemona in Otello. Another debut will follow at La Scala in Milan in the part of Fiora in a new production L’amore dei tre Rè. In 2021 she will give her debuts at Chicago Lyric Opera as Contessa and at the Teatro Real in Madrid as Donna Elvira.

During past seasons she gave her debut with the role of Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, at Teatro Regio in Turin, and at the opera house of Rome. At the opera house of Cologne and at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna she made her debut as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. The artist was also on tour with Teatro San Carlo di Napoli in Bangkok where she performed Micaela in Carmen conducted by Zubin Mehta. The International press has recently highly praised her performances as Contessa in Rome - in an innovative and modern staging of Graham Vick – and also at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich in the new production of Christof Loy.

In spring 2017 she gave her highly acclaimed debut in the title role of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena at Teatro alla Scala in Milan conducted by Ion Marin and returned to La Scala later in that season as Musetta in Franco Zeffirelli’s famous production of La Bohème.

Much in demand also as a concert singer she has recently sung Beethoven’s 9thSymphony in Naples, Bangkok and Astana under Zubin Mehta and has been invited by the Orchestra of Accademia di Santa Cecilia to sing Rossini’s Messa di Gloria under Antonio Pappano.

Federica Lombardi studied at the Liceo Musicale Angelo Massini in Forlì and at the Conservatorio Bruno Maderna of her hometown Cesena. During the 2015/16 she was part of the Accademia di Perfezionamento per Cantanti Lirici of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala and took also part in the prestigious young singers program at Salzburg Festival in 2015.

She is a twotime winner of the AsLiCo competition in Como and laureate of Francisco Viñas competition in Barcelona, Ottavio Zino in Rome, Fausto Ricci in Viterbo or Benvenuto Franci in Pienza.

Since 2010 she is working at the ART-musica school with Romualdo Savastano.
