Evan LeRoy Johnson, a native American, studied voice at the University of Kentucky and at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
He was a member of Central City Opera's "Apprentice Artists" program and in 2015 was awarded the "Barbara and Stanley Richman Memorial Award" by the Opera House of Saint Louis. In the season 2016/17 he made his European debut at the Norwegian National Opera in Britten's War Requiem. Other engagements have included Don José (Carmen), Malcom (Macbeth), Narraboth (Salome) and Flamand (Capriccio) at prestigious opera houses such as the Zurich Opera, Opera Philadelphia and Norske Opera in Oslo, and Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival. In 2018 he makes his house debut at the Bavarian State Opera with the role of Cassio (Otello).
