Emma van der Schalie (Groningen, 1987) started taking violin lessons at the age of six and in 2014 completed her Masters at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Peter Brunt.
She won prizes at various competitions and was concertmaster of the Netherlands Youth String Orchestra. Later Emma became one of the violinists and founders of Fuse, which became one of the most famous instrumental groups of the moment. With Fuse, Emma performs nationwide and has performed in the Concertgebouw, Paradiso, theaters and festivals such as SAIL, Wonderfeel, Robeco Summernights and the World Port Days. Fuse is the house band of Podium Witteman and regularly guest on other TV and radio programs. In 2016 the debut album Studio (nominated for an Edison) was released and at the end of 2018 the sequel, Studio 2. Emma has been presenting the Podium Witteman Extra program for the NTR since 2017.
