Edward Parks, an American baritone, was born in Indiana in 1985.
Edward Parks, the 2019 Grammy Award winner for Best Opera Recording for his portrayal of Steve Jobs in The Evolution of Steve Jobs, made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Fiorello in The Barber of Seville during the 2009-2010 season. Since then, he has graced the stage there as Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Schaunard in La Boheme, and Larkens in Western Dancer, which was broadcast in HD worldwide. Upcoming engagements include a starring role as Jack Torrance in The Shining at the Colorado Opera, appearances in Pen Test at the Chicago Lyric Opera, Marcello in La Boheme at the Michigan Opera House and Boston Lyric Opera, as well as the world premiere of The Lobster at the Spoleto Festival in Chicago.
Highlights from his past seasons include The Steve Jobs Revolution at the Santa Fe Opera, The Wedding of Figaro at the Hawaii Opera House, his return to the Minnesota Opera as Odber in Silent Night, and his reprising the role of Escamillo in Carmen at the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival in Tokyo. In Japan, he performed Valentine in Faust, and at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Portland Opera, and the San Antonio Opera. He also took on the role of Inman in Cold Mountain at the North Carolina Opera and Belcore in A Love Drink at the Oviedo Opera in Spain.
On the concert stage, Mr. Parks made his debut at Carnegie Hall with a program of Charles Ives songs. He performed Orff's Carmina Burana at the Prague Evenings International Music Festival with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and made his debut with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in Duryufle's Requiem. He also performed Schubert's Winter's Path at the Weil Concert Hall in Carnegie Hall's lobby.
