About
The Edvard Grieg Chorus in Madison, Wisconsin, is an all male choral ensemble that performs Norwegian, Sacred, and secular choral pieces.
The Edvard Grieg Chorus takes its name from the famous Norwegian composer, and many of his compositions are included in their repertoire. The Chorus was founded on January 26, 1925 as the Grieg Mannskor (Grieg Men’s Chorus). Although it has since gone through several name changes, its purpose has remained the same as that of the founding group of Norwegian immigrants: to preserve and share the choral music and traditions they brought with them from Norway. While singing Norwegian songs has been the primary focus of the Chorus, sacred and secular songs are also included in its program, which varies depending on the time of year.
