Dennis Giauque is a pianist and vocal coach. He has been an Assistant Conductor at the Metropolitan Opera for the past thirty three years. During that time he has coached and prepared countless singers for many television and HD broadcasts, CD releases, gala performances, as well as regular performances. He was the pianist and head of musical preparation for the award-winning recording of Ariadne auf Naxos, recorded with James Levine and the Vienna Philharmonic. He recently collaborated in Japan with Seiji Ozawa for the Seiji Ozawa Academy production of Die Fledermaus.
He also recently worked on the Philip Glass opera Akhnaten for the MITO SettembreMusica Festival in Torino and Milano. Before coming to New York, he was a coach on the music staffs of opera houses in Nürnberg and Stuttgart, Germany; and assistant chorus master for the San Francisco Opera. In addition to his work in opera,he has performed on the concert recital stage with Luciano Pavarotti, Dawn Upshaw, James Morris, Brigitte Fassbaender, Vittorio Grigolo, and others. His formal music training came from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
